Lovington Preschool
![]()
The preschool program at Lovington Elementary School consists of two programs. These programs are Early Childhood special education and Project H.E.L.P (helping educate little people). The program consists of two classes in which both of these programs are blended. These programs service thirty children ages 3 through five years of age.
Both classes run a two and half hour long program Monday through Friday. Schedules for these programs can be viewed below.
Early Childhood special education program provides individualized instruction in a smaller class environment for children with IEP’s (individualized education plan). One classroom teacher and teacher assistant service five special education students and 10 regular education students in one classroom setting. This allows an opportunity for all students to learn in the least restrictive environment.
Project H.E.L.P is a non special education program that is designed to help children who are at risk for academic failure and the need of the families. This program provides several support systems for the families involved. Some of these include a parent lending Library for up to date parenting questions and techniques. An activity take home back pack is also utilized for the children and the families. This activity back pack includes books to read and several educational activities. This is a learning tool to link school and home to provide the best educational practice for the students. Two or more family gatherings are held each school year for the families involved. The gathering consists of several educational activities and snack for the families. Parent teacher conferences are held three times a year providing the families with up to date information regarding their child's pre-academic and social skills. Home visits are done to welcome new families into the program as well.
|
Pre-School Screening for these programs is done in the spring time. If
this time is not convenient for you, you may contact the teacher Katrina
Farris at the Lovington Elementary School @ 873-4318 to set up a more
convent time.
